About Beverly

As the founder of Sequitur Consulting, Beverly Haydel has more than a decade of experience working in both the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Her expertise lies in project management, coalition building, stakeholder engagement, public outreach, issue advocacy, policy development and legislative strategy.

Throughout her career, Beverly has demonstrated an ability to plan and execute complex projects involving multiple stakeholder groups and across numerous sectors, including health care, education, transportation and infrastructure, and economic development. Beverly applies her critical thinking and interpersonal skills to help clients plan and manage projects efficiently and to achieve positive results. Her ability to write persuasively, her vast knowledge across multiple policy areas and her in-depth knowledge of the legislative processes at both the local, state and federal levels provide her with the expertise to bring value to clients in a wide array of situations.

Prior to founding Sequitur, Beverly served as Director of Civic Leadership Initiatives at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, a 501c3 community foundation with over $600 million in assets. Beverly managed the Foundation’s long-term projects throughout the greater Baton Rouge area. Beverly managed each project from the planning stage through implementation. She oversaw the community engagement process, managed outside consultant teams and worked with stakeholders and public officials at the local, state and federal levels to garner support for projects and identify funding for implementation.

Beverly began her career at Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Analyst based out of the company’s New York City headquarters. Beverly supported the division’s general counsels and was responsible for working with deal teams and outside attorneys to execute initial public offerings and debt transactions for clients across multiple sectors.

Following law school at Stanford University, Beverly served as a clerk to the Honorable Janice Rogers Brown on the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals. After completing her clerkship, Beverly practiced law at the Washington, D.C. based firm of Kellogg, Huber Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, PLLC, where she primarily represented corporate clients involved in federal court litigation or arbitration.

Beverly’s experience as a litigator and knowledge of the political system led her in 2012 to join the Mitt Romney for President campaign as an Associate General Counsel. Beverly’s responsibilities included serving as the director of the campaign’s election day operations team in Ohio.

Beverly returned to her home state of Louisiana in 2013 to serve as Special Assistant to Governor Bobby Jindal. Her responsibilities involved developing policy solutions and coordinating implementation of key projects. Beverly’s work focused heavily on health care policy, allowing her to develop a deep understanding of health care financing and systems design. Beverly also worked closely with state officials and legislators to draft legislation and accomplish policy objectives.

Beverly graduated with a degree in Economics from Harvard University, where she was also the starting point guard for the Harvard Women’s Basketball Team.

Beverly lives in Baton Rouge with her husband and two young children and remains active in the philanthropic sector. In 2019 she was named as one of Baton Rouge’s Top Forty Under 40 by the Baton Rouge Business Report.
